Lost or misplaced keys can be a real problem for landlords and letting agents and very costly if new locks and keys have to be fitted. This could happen when tenants are returning keys after they check out of a property and do not return the same sets of keys/fobs that they were provided with when they check in.
In order to prevent this happening, we have developed a Key Exchange app so when we check a tenant in to a property, they have to sign for the exact amount of keys they receive from our clerk. A PDF is immediately produced with the property address details, GPS map location and a photo of the keys so when they move out they have to return the same set or will be charged for replacement keys and locks.
This is a valuable form of evidence for the landlord or agent should the matter go to dispute with the holding deposit scheme.
